Founded in 2004, Hugo & Cat is a full-service digital and interactive agency specializing in creating compelling brand experiences. Capabilities include data & insight, strategic planning, experience design, content creation, creative technology and mobile & web development. Hugo & Cat has 80 staff and is headquartered in London, with a US presence in San Francisco.
Patrick Smith, CEO of FutureBrand Worldwide, said of the acquisition:
“For us, Hugo & Cat represents more than the addition of world-class digital thinking and delivery to our already successful in-house digital capability. It means reinventing branding in a way that reflects the new challenges our clients face as they grow and build brands in a rapidly changing digital world. The rules that governed traditional branding have altered beyond recognition.”
Patrick Smith continued:
“Hugo & Cat extends our capability to create the complete brand ecosystems now demanded by clients and follows our successful integration of retail experience design specialist UXUS in 2013. As with UXUS, we had previously worked with Hugo & Cat on shared clients, and know there’s a strong cultural fit across multiple markets between our two companies. We’re thrilled to welcome them to our company.”
Rachael Scott and Johannes Smith are co-founders of Hugo & Cat. Ms. Scott added:
“We have built our agency around the passionate belief that digital has the power to transform business. Our combination of strategy, storytelling and experience design has allowed us to deliver real impact for our clients over the last eleven years.”
Johannes Smith concluded:
“Joining the FutureBrand family, and the Interpublic Group of companies, allows us to take that offer to new markets and solve even bigger challenges for clients looking for competitive advantage in a digital world. We chose FutureBrand because together we can create a compelling offer for global clients who know their success lies at the intersection of business, brand and digital experience. We are very excited about what the future holds.”
